It’s time to stop using phone shots for your corporate headshots. If you are a business owner, then it is essential that you have a professional corporate headshot taken in order to represent your company well. It’s not just about looking good on paper, but also about making sure the right people see what you have to offer them. In this article, we will talk about 5 reasons why there needs to be an end to phone shots and how they affect your business! Before I go into it, I will say that if you must use a phone to create a headshot photo, then you should check out my tips for getting a good headshot photo using only your phone.
- It’s difficult to take them well on your own. The lighting and positioning need to be just right in order for things to come out the way that you want them to. This takes time and skill!
- All phones do some processing of your image. It’s subtle but enough for people to tell that it was taken with a phone. The viewer will not be able to tell why but it will look like everyone else’s photo and not like a professional photo.
- Your phone isn’t going to do justice when it comes down to how people perceive your company or brand because we judge books by their covers all the time – so if someone looks at an image with bad photography skills, chances are they won’t even bother looking into what else there is about your business!
- Your phone is not equipped with a professional portrait lens. Professional cameras have specific lenses for specific purposes. Ideally, a lens that is 85mm or longer is preferred for professional headshots and your phone does not have one of those.
- You will also have to edit the photo on your phone, which is frustrating and time-consuming. Most people don’t know how to do this well or what they should be doing in order to make their photos look better – which means you’re unlikely to get a professional result
- Your staff’s headshots will vary dramatically because different brands of phones produce different results. Allowing for inconsistencies that could potentially damage your company’s brand if it isn’t dealt with properly
A corporate photographer can help you create consistent images across your team members while still giving each individual an authentic representation of themselves. I love shooting at our studio because we offer a lighting setup that cannot be replicated by a phone. Your photo will look unlike anything else out there and people will notice which is exactly what you want to have happened. Stand out.
